  11.    Hardware Control Utility for DOS
  12.    ================================

  14.    A new HWSET.EXE utility is included in this release. It is a DOS-based
  15.    utility that allows you to configure your sound card's hardware settings 
  16.    directly from the DOS prompt.

  18.    The available command-line parameters for the HWSET.EXE will be displayed 
  19.    on screen by typing HWSET /? or HWSET /S at the DOS prompt.

  38.    if you are using DOS version 5, please contact your local Microsoft's
  39.    dealers for a copy of MSCDEX.EXE (for DOS version 5 usage).

  120.    Using Digital (.WAV) Audio with DOS 6.x's DoubleSpace*
  121.    ======================================================
  122.  
  123.    The DoubleSpace utility included with DOS 6.x can cause problems
  124.    if you attempt to play or record "high data rate" (i.e.: stereo/
  125.    44.1kHz/16-bit) digital audio to or from a compressed disk. In
  126.    DOSDAT or WinDAT, the symptom will be a "Disk Could Not Keep Up
  127.    With Digital Audio" error message, or in some cases the program
  128.    may even crash. 
  129.  
  130.    Therefore, if you anticipate that you will be playing or recording
  131.    a lot of stereo/44.1kHz/16-bit digital audio, you should set up a
  132.    non-compressed drive partition and configure both DOSDAT and WinDAT
  133.    to use this drive as their Work and Temp directories. In both
  134.    programs this is done from the Setup window. 
  135.  
  136.    For information on setting up a non-compressed partition for your
  137.    hard drive, refer to your DOS 6.x Users Guide. 
  138.  
  139.    * The same procedure should be followed if you are using Stacker, a
  140.      third-party disk compression utility.
  141.

  143.    Changes To Audiostation v1.11 and later
  144.    =======================================
  145.  
  146.    The user interface for Audiostation v1.11 and later has been changed
  147.    slightly in order to make it easier to use. 
  148.  
  149.    To go to the last or first item in a MIDI, CD, or DAT playlist, you
  150.    should click on the Next or Previous button while holding down the
  151.    [Shift] key on your computer keyboard. This was previously
  152.    accomplished by double-clicking on the Next or Previous buttons.
  153.  
  154.    The CD Module's Playlist window now includes a Next button that makes
  155.    it easier when you're naming tracks for a CD playlist. Once you've
  156.    entered the name for a track, either click on the Next button or press
  157.    the Enter key to name the next track.

  160.    Notes About Using EMM386.EXE
  161.    ============================
  162.  
  163.    When running applications with EMM386.EXE installed, the following
  164.    error message may appear:
  165.  
  166.       "EMM386 DMA buffer is too small"
  167.  
  168.    You can overcome this problem in two ways:
  169.  
  170.       - remove the EMM386.EXE entry from the CONFIG.SYS file
  171.  
  172.       OR
  173.  
  174.       - add the following parameter to the EMM386.EXE entry in the
  175.         CONFIG.SYS file:
  176.  
  177.            D=64
  178.  
  179.            where D specifies how many kilobytes of memory should be
  180.            reserved for buffered Direct Memory Access (DMA).
